Caitlin Aguayo, CSW
Growing up, I have had a desire to help others- friends, family, and my community. Due to this, I have found myself, from a young age, in helping roles, especially by being a safe place/person through providing a listening ear. Therefore, when it came to finding a career, becoming a counselor and social worker- a person who is meant to be a support and advocate for others- felt like I was answering my vocation.
Though relatively new to the field, I received a quality education in Social Work from the University of Denver and was able to gain experience and training in providing mental health services to rural community members through my work with Summit Community Care Clinic, being a counselor for school aged children in Fairplay, as well as being a counselor to young and older adults in Leadville. This experience gave me valuable insight into the unique challenges faced by underserved and resource-limited communities, and a passion to bridge the gaps in access to services and care for mountain communities.
I enjoy working with individuals across the lifespan, but have a special interest in providing services to school aged and adolescent aged children. While providing services, I take a systemic as well as holistic approach. This means that I look at all aspects of your life- your environment, support systems, etc.- and how those systems impact you and your day-to-day life, and I understand that you are the expert of your life. Therefore, my role is to work collaboratively with you and provide support and alternative perspectives that could aid in understanding emotions, discovering ways to process information, and developing coping skills to implement. I hope that my compassionate, collaborative, and advocacy driven approach creates a safe and supportive space for you, the client, to explore, grow, and heal.
When I am not with clients, you can find me spending time outside with my family, either hiking, biking or running in this beautiful place we get to call home!
